About 30% of German Immigrants Considering Leaving the Country.

イメージ
This time I saw news about  immigration. It was revealed that nearly 30% of immigrants living on Germany are considering leaving the country for economic reasons and discrimination. According to a report published by the German Federal Institute for Employment Research, 26% of immigrants said they had considered leaving the country. They cited a variety of reasons, but a large percentage cited dissatisfaction with economic opportunities and tax burden.  In Germany, labor shortages are becoming more serious due to the retirement of older workers. Millions of immigrant workers are expected to be needed to stabilize the labor market. The government has tried to remedy this problem by increasing the number of work visas issued. However, the illegal immigration problem has started domestic politics and  complicated the situation.  The report recommended that the government take steps to ease bureaucracy and eliminate discrimination in the workplace.  Regarding ...

Gasoline Prices Down, but will Go Up Next Week?

イメージ
Regular gasoline prices were 171.2 yen, down 1 yen from the previous week. This is the eight consecutive week of price declines. However, prices expected to rise next week due to tensions in the Middle East.   According to the Petroleum Information Center, the reason for the drop in gasoline prices is government subsidies to keep gasoline prices down starting in May. The Israeli attack on Iran caused international crude oil futures prices to rise by more than 10% at one point. The Petroleum Information Center states, "While government subsidies have reached the ceiling of 10 yen, retail gasoline prices are also expected to rise next week as wholesale prices to gas stations are expected to rise".  From this,  as I walked by the gas station, I felt recently that the price had finally gotten cheaper, but I knew it would be financially difficult if it would go up again. I am wondering how much it will go up.    Authority: NHK Reference NHK. (2025, June 18...

イメージ
Major food manufacturer Kewpie announced that it will discontinue production of baby and toddler food at the end of August next year. This company has been producing and selling baby food and other products for 65 years. Factors behind the end of production include increased costs due to rising raw material and energy prices. in addition, sales have dropped due to increased competition from other manufactures.  This is why I did not know that this company produced and sold baby food and other products until I read this article. I now understand that rising prices are thus affecting  the company and others. Authority:NHK Reference NHK. (2025, June 12). Growing Rice without Water

イメージ
This time I read an article about growing rice without water. This method is more efficient than the previous one and allows production on a large scale with fewer people. Furthermore, this method has reduced their working hours. With the number of famers expected to decrease on the future, this may be good solution.  Furthermore, in the past, there have been methods of producing rice by directly sowing seeds in dry rice paddies, but the problem was unstable growth due to lack of nutrients. The key to this was a liquid fertilizer using beer yeast. By using this, they absorb more nutrients and grow more actively. Although the yield was lower than in the watered fields, there was no problem with the quality. This led me to believe that the spread of this method would bring us closer to solving the problem of the decreasing number of farmers. I thought that new methods could be create by combining old knowledge with current technology.             ...
